Independence Day Celebrations 2016 !!
Gaiety and patriotic fervour marked 70th Independence Day celebrations at St. Joseph’s Academy.
The staff, students and Alumni of St. Joseph’s Academy gathered to celebrate the 70th Independence Day of our nation, on Tuesday August 15, at 8.00 am.
Brigadier S. Harimohan Iyer an Ex-Jospehite from the batch of 1981at present serving at Army Head Quarters along with his better half Mrs. Sudha HariMohan was the chief guest. He and his better half were presented bouquets by Managing Committee SJA Alumni Association and escorted by his batch mates Ajay Goel, Vickram Sabharwal, Col. Sanjay Mohan and being pleasantly surprised by the presence of Brigadier Sandeep Chaturvedi his batch mate along with senior Alumni members and school council members, he was heartily welcomed by the principal Brother Dennis Joseph SJA coordinators Sumeet Gupta, Simi Sirdhar, Sangeeta Sawhney and Moon Hassan and most of all his former Principal Brother T.J. Muldowney who had guided him to achieve the laurels…
The programme began with the introduction of Chief Guest, to commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the Chief Guest along with Principal Dennis Joseph unfurled the tricolour flag and all the present in unison sang the national anthem and expressed the joy of freedom.
The Chief Guest accompanied by Managing Committee SJA Alumni Association and other Alumni Members visited Archive Room which also houses Alumni office for a short visit and was requested to enhance the décor of Archive Room by installing new wall clock after a short breakfast at visitor parlour it was time for ceremonies at Auditorium.
The students then took the centre stage speaking eloquently to convey the importance of freedom, patriotism and nationalism.To keep alive the flame of patriotism, the students sang patriotic songs and poems a patriotic speech rendered by a student in Hindi awakened everyone’s feelings towards our motherland. Garhwali Folk dance by the Girls enthralled each and everyone. However the highlight being class XIth students "dwarf dance" on the beats of “ Suno gaur is duniyon wlaon” which brought the house down…
On this auspicious day, the chief guest a Jospehite, a proud son of Mother India who has braved all the frontiers armed forces offer in his illustrious career, served the nation tirelessly for the past 31 years shared his views.
He said, “Our country which was under the foreign powers for centuries is now free and is on path of becoming economic super power because of the policies laid and sacrifices of the martyrs and the army.” He also called the youth as the wealth and the hope of the nation who will lead the country and make it a great nation of the world.
He was simply captivating, told students how fortunate they were to be the part of this great institution which in discipline and the values inculcated ahead of dedicated armed forces institution like RIMC and Army School, each and every word he spoke or reminisced the little anecdotes enthralled both students, staff and Alumni members. He was nostalgic to find his former principal and class mates in the gathering, not only did he share his nostalgia he also strongly stressed how interesting, educating and challenging was the career in armed forces he observed that “Freedom is a gift, a privilege and a challenge. It does not consist in doing what one wants to do but doing what is expected to do.”
To culminate the celebrations Principal thanked Chief Guest, SJA Alumni Association and staff for their outstanding effort. Thereafter Chief Guest and his better half were presented mementos by the Patron Brother Dennis Joseph and President Praveen Chandhok- SJA Alumni Association!
At SJA it was indeed a day of joy, love and respects for the country and the students urged to make India a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
To continue the celebrations Chief Guest also formally inaugurated kite flying competition organised by Young Indians which is represented by dear dynamic Alumni Harshit Gupta...
The day out will be a cherished experience for all of us present…. Proud to be Indian and equally proud to be a Josephite…Jai Hind…Vande Matram….
