SJA Annual Sports Meet 2016-2017

Our Alma Mater, St. Joseph's Academy, Dehradun celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 19th November 2016, in its vast sports ground with great zeal and fervour. The sports meet was declared opened by our illustrious Alumni serving Air Marshall RD Mathur AVSM, VSM who was accompanied by his better half Mrs. Shipra Mathur gracing the occasion. Chief Guest hosted the flag. Our Long Time Partner "Bansal Classes"was once again in the fore front supporting the event...

It was an exciting day in which each child had the opportunity to participate in various field and track events and fun games. The event commenced with a bang school captains running in with Torch backed by Teachers and prefects on Motorcycles the highlight being Namita Lal Mam driving motor bike!!! Brother Rajesh declared the meet open. The little ones of kindergarten put stole each and everyone heart by their Walk Past conveying the message “Eat Healthy stay fit”!!! Mesmerising P.T. Display by classes I, II & III.

School girls presented breathtaking, perfectly choreographed Kathak dance displaying stunning movements and colourful dresses. Sub- junior children competed for 100 Mtr and 200 Mtr race and fun races for the little ones like arranging the dress balloon race being icing on the cake.

The Middle school students students (Classes VI, VII and VIII) (Girls) presented a well synchronized Rainbow Dance receiving standing ovation! But the event of the day was obstacle race testing the stamina of children and enthralling each and everyone.

In between the prize distribution went on and the honorary guests gracing the occasion distributed the prizes with words of praise and encouragement. In the course of entire day the school band soothed the atmosphere with the melodious music as the children and guests swayed to the beat of the music.

The events were further carried on with the Inter House baton relay 4x100 Mts of all the categories Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior. Accepting the school request, not to lag behind, the SJA alumni enthusiastically participated in the Inviatational relay race the Alumni Team comprised of:

The outstanding effort, endeavour and attempt shown by the Alumni's just cannot be portrayed in the words it was simply superb... Watching Sharique Ali Khan finishing the race with a superb dash was just stunning! It was an outstanding mix of Juniors and Seniors putting in their best displaying the competitive spirit. Rajan Mehta being the hot favourite! Navraj Jolly displaying his killing instinct and not be left behind youngest member of Managing Committee Abhinav Goel raised his hand to compete... Udit Handa , Gunjan Sharma giving tough fight and not to forget dear Sarjana Bhatia the lone girl competing with men! Kudos to the entire participant we all salute you and please keep the fire burning...3 Cheers from all of us.

The winners donning SJA Alumni Invitational Relay Race were awarded Medals and Trophies by Mrs. Shipra Mathur which they shall cherish forever...
The most awaited event and cherished by each and every Josephite 5000 Mtrs. Cycle Race lived up to its reputation, perfectly justifying the song being played in the background “Joh Jeeta Woh Sikander” and the “Sikander” of the day was Kartik Bhauguna (XII B) ending the unbeaten era of Garry Lou!
The grand finale was the March Past performed by the whole school symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship by the four houses- Donovan, Dooley, Duffy and Bergin... The Donovan House won on a unanimous decision!!!
SJA Alumni Association provided whole hearted support and the mere presence of illustrious Alumni Air Marshall RD Mathur was invigorating for the students and we hope it will inspire them to resolve themselves to lead a life where their character gets refined further, to dedicate themselves to the nation as they need to understand their every activity is linked to the interest of the nation…only when students possess such feelings they can take our country to newer heights.
We thank regarded Air Marshall RD Mathur and his better half Mrs. Shipra Mathur for sparing precious time out of their busy schedule to be at our Alma mater to guide and encourage the students on this day, with hope that their gesture will encourage the student to excel in the sporting arena to conquer the unconquered boundaries...
The Parents appreciated the excellent organization of the sports events. The head boy and head girl gave the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the parents for their cooperation and to the management for their support at every step and also offered special thanks to the SJA Alumni Association for the co-operation. The parents were ecstatic with the performance of the children and very sportingly encouraged the students.

The peak of the show was the announcement for the House Trophy winner. All the students cheered for the respective houses which eventually belonged to Dooley House.
